What is the Classroom Drone Kit

The Classroom Drone Kit by Rocket Drones is purpose-built for school environments, with a simulator-first pathway and gamified portal for real classroom use

A classroom drone kit is a complete drone education system built for the conditions educators actually work in. Those conditions include 50-minute class periods, 25+ students, and teachers who may have no prior flight experience. The Rocket Drones Classroom Drone Kit addresses those constraints from the start. It is not consumer drone hardware repackaged for schools after the fact. It fits school environments. It includes classroom-rated equipment, a browser-based simulator, structured progression, and support from a drone education company that understands rollout in real classrooms.

Built for the classroom, not adapted to it

Most drone hardware enters education as a consumer product looking for a classroom use case. The Rocket Drones Classroom Drone Kit reverses that model. Its keyed drone batteries support one-way insertion, which helps prevent equipment damage during student use. Whole-class safety glasses account for the reality that indoor flight affects everyone in the room, not only the pilot. The fire-safe LiPo battery charging bag supports storage between periods. Durable airframes handle the repeated hard landings and wall contact common in instruction. When schools compare classroom drone kits for schools, these design choices matter because each one solves a real classroom problem.

What’s included in the Classroom Drone Kit

The Rocket Drones Classroom Kit ships with the equipment a teacher needs to run a complete drone education program out of the box:

Six classroom drones — classroom-rated airframes designed for indoor flight and repeated student use

Six rechargeable controllers — one controller per drone for consistent flight rotations

Keyed drone batteries — one-way insertion helps prevent battery placement errors

Whole-class safety glasses — eye protection for the full classroom during flight sessions

LiPo battery charging bag — fire-safe storage and charging between class periods

Inflatable obstacle course — six Velcro-attachable shapes that create a configurable flight environment

Individual drone cases — protected storage and transport for each drone

Landing pads — designated zones for takeoff, landing, and recovery practice

Rocket Drones Portal access — the classroom drone curriculum, simulator, and progression layer that turn equipment into a program

Gamified drone education through the Rocket Drones Portal

The Rocket Drones Portal is the layer that separates the kit from a complete classroom drone program. Students begin with a WebGL flight simulator that runs directly in Google Chrome. There are no installs and no added IT friction. From there, career mode creates a progression through manual piloting basics before students move into competitive activities. The portal includes Drone Basketball, Drone Fishing, Drone Golf, Drone Tennis, Drone Limbo, and ATC Says. This gamified drone education model ties play to instruction. Drone Limbo specifically teaches prop wash physics through direct flight experience.

The simulator-first onramp

The simulator-first design answers one of the biggest classroom constraints. It shows you how to train 25+ students in a 50-minute period without losing time to waiting. In the Rocket Drones Classroom Drone Kit, one group can fly physical drones while another group rotates through the WebGL simulator. Both groups continue training at the same time, and both are tracked through career mode progression. The result is a system that keeps instruction moving instead of slowing it down around limited controller access.

Unlimited support — built for teachers adapting to new technology

A classroom drone kit succeeds only when teachers can implement it with confidence. Every Classroom Drone Kit includes unlimited support from the Rocket Drones team, made up of drone professionals who understand classroom rollout and educator concerns. That support matters for schools starting a CTE drone program, building a classroom drone curriculum, or adding manual piloting to a career-ready pathway. The difference is practical. A kit with support becomes a sustainable program, while unsupported equipment often becomes shelf decoration.

The Rocket Drones Classroom Drone Kit shows what a drone education program looks like when it fits the realities of teaching. The equipment, portal, support, and operational design work together as a complete system. This classroom drone kit helps schools move from equipment purchase to repeatable instruction, measurable progression, and long-term program use.

  • Engineered for classroom conditions from the start
The Rocket Drones Classroom Drone Kit is designed for school environments, not adapted from consumer drone hardware after the fact. Features such as keyed batteries, whole-class safety glasses, a fire-safe LiPo charging bag, and durable airframes each solve a specific classroom problem. That design approach matters in real implementation. It helps educators run flight activities safely, protect equipment, and maintain instruction across repeated class use.
  • The portal turns equipment into a real program
Hardware alone does not create a classroom drone curriculum. The Rocket Drones Portal gives the Classroom Drone Kit its instructional pathway through a Google Chrome-based WebGL simulator, career mode progression, and six structured drone games tied to flight concepts. Students build manual piloting skills before moving into applied activities. That progression is what turns a drone purchase into a repeatable classroom drone program with employer-valued skill development.
  • Support determines whether programs last
Unlimited support is one of the clearest differences between adoption and frustration. The Rocket Drones team supports teachers who are implementing drone education for the first time, not just schools with existing aviation experience. That support helps educators troubleshoot rollout, maintain momentum, and keep the program active over time. In practice, it is often the difference between a sustainable CTE drone program and equipment that stops getting used.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a classroom drone kit?

A classroom drone kit is a complete drone education system designed for school environments. It includes classroom-rated drones, controllers, safety equipment, simulator access, and program support built around 50-minute periods, 25+ students, and teachers with no prior flight experience. A strong classroom drone kit is engineered for school use rather than adapted from consumer hardware.

What's included in the Rocket Drones Classroom Kit?

The Rocket Drones Classroom Kit includes six classroom drones, six rechargeable controllers, keyed drone batteries, whole-class safety glasses, a fire-safe LiPo battery charging bag, an inflatable obstacle course with six Velcro-attachable shapes, individual drone cases, landing pads, and Rocket Drones Portal access. Together, these components give teachers the equipment and structure needed to run a complete program. This is what schools should expect from drone kits for schools built for actual classroom use.

What is the Rocket Drones Portal and how does it work?

The Rocket Drones Portal is the curriculum and progression layer that powers the program. It starts students in a WebGL flight simulator that runs in Google Chrome, then moves them through career mode before unlocking Drone Basketball, Drone Fishing, Drone Golf, Drone Tennis, Drone Limbo, and ATC Says. This gamified drone education approach connects each activity to real flight concepts, including prop wash physics in Drone Limbo.

How does a classroom drone kit work in a 50-minute class period with 25+ students?

A classroom drone kit works in that environment by using a simulator-first rotation model. While one student group flies physical drones, another group trains in the WebGL simulator, so both groups continue progressing during the same class period. The Rocket Drones Classroom Drone Kit is built around that exact operational constraint, which keeps instruction moving without students losing time waiting for a controller.

Do teachers need flight experience to use a classroom drone kit?

No, teachers do not need prior flight experience to use a classroom drone kit. The Rocket Drones Classroom Drone Kit includes structured progression, a browser-based simulator, and unlimited support from drone professionals who understand school implementation. That support helps educators build confidence, launch instruction, and sustain a classroom drone curriculum without starting from an aviation background.

The Classroom Drone Kit by Rocket Drones

Speaker: Chris Tonn

In drone education, everybody needs a starting point — and within the school environment, that doesn't always match what's out there for the consumer world of drone education. So we here at Rocket Drones built something very unique, simplified, and gamified for your classrooms to start with drone education. Introducing the Classroom Kit by Rocket Drones.

The kit includes up to six classroom drones — nice, tough, great practice, veteran-gamified drones — along with rechargeable controllers, batteries that only plug in one way, and safety equipment including safety glasses for your whole class. You also get a LiPo battery charging bag to keep everything safe and secure during storage, an inflatable obstacle course with six unique shapes that you can Velcro or attach to other components around your classroom, drone cases for each of your individual drones, landing pads, and most importantly, access to our online portal.

The Rocket Drones portal is really the differentiating factor when it comes to drone education. We all get to a point where it's, "Okay, great, the kids are up and flying. Now what?" In this portal, we've designed a pathway — a career mode, so to speak — where kids start out with the basics of flight using our WebGL simulator. If you can run Google Chrome, you can run this simulator. It also allows for versatility within the classroom. Let's say you have a larger class and need a more modular approach of virtual flight and in-person flight. This is a wonderful way to combine the real-life scenario of having only 50 minutes in a class with 25-plus kids, and needing this to function in a way that's fun, easy, and gamified.

Once the kids are through their basics of flight, they unlock the next chapter of skill-set building — flight challenges and flight activities. Flight activities are where it gets really cool. Drones can do things like flips, so we gamify that capability. As you can see here, there's a ping pong holder. One of my favorite games is drone basketball. But the list doesn't end there: there's drone fishing, drone golf, drone tennis, drone limbo, and "ATC Says." All of them have a learning component built in at the very beginning — so we're understanding that drone limbo is actually introducing us to prop wash as we get closer and closer to the ground, and so on.

One of the things we're most proud of here at Rocket Drones is that this comes with unlimited support. We're all drone professionals who recognize that teachers are adapting to this new technology. Some of you may have never flown a drone before, and some of your students may not have either. So we want to make something simple for the market to use in the classroom.
